i should be happy, but...

okay, so the coworker that has been a pain in my side for the past year and a half (ya know, the one i told off because he's incompetent) told us today that he's leaving our office and taking another job within the company... this is his last week...

you think i would be jumping for joy to finally be rid of him... but i'm not... i'm highly ticked off at the company for passing him off to someone else... i'm ticked off that we have to sit through hours of ethics training each year, when apparently it's a waste of time... because if we spot ethical violations, and report them (repeatedly, even) nothing gets done about it... instead, the problem is just relocated...

i am so glad to be leaving this company... i know a lot of companies out there are corrupt, and there will be problems with any company, but this is blatently lying to our faces about what characteristics the company values and upholds... and it makes me feel slimey for working for a company that says they're ethical, but clearly aren't...

on the other hand, i know that i can sit here and do nothing till my time here is up, and no one will say a word to me about it... i want to be a good engineer and take the high road, but why do that when someone making twice as much as you isn't doing anything at all, and they're still employed? not cool, folks... not cool at all...

i'm glad we get an exit interview to tell why we're leaving and such... while not buring any bridges (cause you never know what might happen), i am going to let this company know that this man, and this situation, and lack of action, is the main reason i am leaving... i won't be around to see if anything changes, but maybe my input will make it a better workplace for others...

by the way: todays frustration gives me lots of motivation to walk/run tonight... hehe...

April-
Hang in there. You already know that you are a person of integrity and that might have to sustain you for now. Take care of yourself.
